Session Details & Duration

All camps are fully residential and our campers, volunteers and staff stay in our comfortable and air conditioned dormitories. The daily schedule varies per camp session but generally is made up of three periods, morning, afternoon, and evening:

  • Mornings at Camp Pitt usually include a devotional time, activity, and worship time.
  • Afternoons are filled with recreation opportunities such as archery; air rifle; paddle boarding; canoeing; disc golf; swimming; group games; or team building course.
  • Evenings are a special time at Camp Pitt. After dinner campers participate in main session worship, an evening activity, and conclude with campfire — one of the most memorable parts of camp.

We have day, half week, and full week camp sessions. Our “half week” camps usually last 3 days, and our “full week” camp sessions last 6 days, Sunday through Friday.

You can find dates, prices and check-in / check-out times by clicking on your camp session.

What’s Included in the Cost?

Camp Pitt’s registration fees cover all of your camper’s lodging, activities, meals and snacks. Plus, every camper receives a t-shirt at the conclusion of his or her camp session for no additional cost. Campers are encouraged to bring money to camp only to donate to the summer mission Camp Pitt has chosen to support. Gifts to the mission can also be made through the registration process. However, participating in the offerings can be an important experience for campers. Parents should use their best judgment.

Discounts & Deadlines

Discounts may be available through participating Member Churches. An early bird discount of $20 is applied to all registrations received on or before the early bird deadline of May 1. Financial Aid is available upon request by emailing our registrar at moc.liamgobfsctd-6f8857@eciffottippmac.

Refunds & Transferable Registrations

Camper registrations are non-refundable. However, all registrations are 100% transferable. Parents/legal guardians must request a code from Camp Pitt’s registrar to transfer a registration to a new camper. Cancellations due to a medical emergency or illness can receive full refunds upon request and approval.

What to Bring

  • Clothes: Everyone is expected to abide by the camp dress code. At least a daily change of clothes, undergarments and socks is recommended (and appreciated). Remember rainwear and extra clothes for recreation and special activities.
  • Footwear: Shoes must be worn everywhere at camp except in the pool area and in the dorms. Bringing an extra pair of shoes is a good idea.
  • Bedding & Toilet Articles: Sheets (twin size), pillow, blanket or sleeping bag; towels, washcloths, soap, shampoo, toothpaste and brush, comb/hairbrush; anti-perspirant/deodorant, sun block, and insect repellant (test at home first).
  • Other Items: HOLY BIBLE, notebook or journal, pens or pencils; money for missions; flashlight; water bottle; sunglasses and hat/cap.

What to Leave at Home

CELL PHONES ARE NOT PERMITTED AT CAMP for campers. Parents/Guardians will receive a policy notice at Check-In. Pets, radios, CD players or any personal electronic media device (ie. tablets, laptops, gaming devices, MP3 players, iPods, GPS), magazines, toys, games, playing cards or prank items. If confiscated, electronic devices will be turned in to the Dean and secured in the camp office until the end of the week. Tobacco products, drugs, alcohol or other controlled substances; weapons or explosives of any kind. Food, snacks and money for snacks. Each camper’s registration fee includes $10 to spend at snack time. There is no need to bring snacks or money for snacks. No food of any kind will be allowed in the dorms.

Health Information

Medical and Emergency Contact Information must be completed to register your camper. If your camper has any medical conditions or brings any medications to camp, you must see First Aid staff at check-in. All medications must be brought in their original container, turned over to and dispensed by the camp’s First Aid staff. Expectations will be made for certain inhalers and epinephrine pen, but they must still be registered with the staff at check-in on the first day of the camp session.

Allergies

Please make our First Aid staff aware of any allergies–especially including any treatment regimens and medications. Camp Pitt’s kitchen can accommodate many specific food allergies or dietary needs when given advance notice. We ask that you contact the office one week prior to arriving at camp if this applies to your child or if you have questions concerning the projected menu. Parents are encouraged to discuss the specific needs of your child with volunteer group leaders and camp staff at check in.

First Aid Staff

Camp Pitt’s First Aid staff is on duty 24 hours a day while camp is in session. If you wish to speak with the person on duty you may call (434) 927-5756. Please be sure we have current contact information for you in the event you must be contacted about your camper’s health.

Insurance

Households that do not have health insurance should mark their form “not insured” where applicable. Please be sure all information about your health insurance is current, including group#, policy# and effective dates. Camp Pitt maintains a secondary camper medical policy for accidents that occur during camp sessions. Contact the camp office for details.

Camper Mail

Most campers enjoy receiving mail during their stay at camp.  Address your mail as follows:

Camp Pitt
<Camper Name>
1232 Oxford Road
Chatham, VA 24531

Please realize it takes at least two or three days for the camp to receive first class mail from anywhere.  We will attempt to forward mail if it is received once the camper goes home.

Volunteers & Staff

We realize parents are entrusting the staff and volunteers of Camp Pitt with their precious children, and we want to provide a safe and nurturing environment for all of our campers. Staff and volunteers are recruited from Camp Pitt’s family of member churches and sister organizations. All staff and volunteers 18 years or older submit to a national criminal background check. Our staff is certified for their individual responsibilities (Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR, ServSafe).
